Coming As You Are
Growing Into Who You’re Meant To Be

Where acceptance meets authenticity.

My desire as a professional counselor is to help my clients work through life issues or difficulties in ways that work best for them by teaching personalized coping skills that are mindful of the nervous system to use in their everyday lives.

About Our Services

Hi! I’m so glad you’re here!

I’m Katy McAlpine, and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in Lubbock, Texas.  I graduated from Texas Tech in 2015 with my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and again in 2019 with my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

I found myself in need of therapy one summer in college when I began experiencing some intense anxiety. Having a therapist for the first time in my life felt like a deep breath of relief because I had someone who understood and didn’t downplay my anxiety. That’s what spurred my own desire to pursue counseling as a career!

I believe that everyone deserves a space to be heard and seen. We all experience seasons of life where we need extra support, and that’s what I want to offer. Whether you’re going through a life transition or some intense feelings or experiences, my hope is to walk with you through these things and offer what support I can in your journey.

Behind the Name: Mesquite trees get a bad rap for being thorny, tough, and invasive. They aren’t usually seen as beautiful plants. But mesquite trees are also known for resilience and persistence. They can live under extreme drought conditions and are an indicator for farmers to know when it’s safe to plant in the spring, as they won’t bloom until the last freeze has passed. I have always loved thorny, unpolished, and unconventionally beautiful plants. Mesquite trees and desert flora have found ways to thrive with scarce resources. They offer beauty in the midst of dry, dusty plains. My view of mental health and therapy is that we all come with thorns, prickles, and unpolished parts. But all of our parts are beautiful and worthy of love and of being seen. When you come to work with me, you’ll find that I want to welcome you exactly as you are and walk with you through what might feel like your own version of a desert to find peace and refreshment.
